Paris, World’s Top Destination For Business Tourism

Paris, France (March 2012) -  Paris positions itself as the leading region in the world for business tourism with over 1,400 tradeshows, 10.5 million visitors and the largest European exhibition area. It is also the top region in Europe to welcome fairs and trade shows.

The Paris region also represents 80% of business tourism in France, with international events such as the Motor show, Fashion Week or Batimat, which attract hundreds of thousands of visitors looking for apartments for rent in Paris. The Paris Tourism Committee already offers a « welcome pack » to business visitors, with a trade show and cultural event calendar, as well as various free services.

To face growing international competition, the government still wants to increase the attractiveness of the capital. Therefore, the Paris-Ile-de-France Regional Council has announced plans to develop business tourism over the next five years in the Paris Metropolitan area.

As part of those changes, a ‘City Pass’ will be launched for business travellers. The objective will be to facilitate access to public transport and tourist attractions with one single card.

VIP Paris and the City Hall have also launched « Paris, capitale de la creation » , a website and advertising campaign to promote the 17 tradeshows in Paris, which specialise in design and fashion.

The government has also declared that they would increase the number of available hotels, for people looking for a place to stay in Paris, with the opening of 7,000 more rooms by 2020. However, this remains insufficient to meet the demand.

Paris apartment rentals have largely been developed over the last few years. They represent the best alternative to the hotel to meet the exhibitors needs, or even for business visitors who regularly come to Paris.
