nLayers Joins Autonomic Computing Initiative
Leader in Real-Time Discovery and Resource Optimization Provides Key Enabler to Generate Autonomic Computing Awareness
SAN JOSE, CA, 02/23/2005 -- nLayers, the leader in real-time discovery and resource optimization, today announced that it has become a member of IBM’s autonomic computing partner initiative. As an IBM autonomic computing partner, nLayers will assist in advancing the adoption of autonomic computing by delivering a non-intrusive resource optimization solution that can be understood and maintained in a holistic manner.
“We are delighted that nLayers is adopting autonomic computing technologies by integrating its InSight offering with the Common Base Event format and the Autonomic Management Engine,” said Dave Bartlett, Director of Autonomic Computing, IBM. “IBM is making these technologies available in the Autonomic Computing Toolkit so that partners like nLayers can help accelerate adoption in the industry.”
nLayers InSight is a passive, “self-funding” appliance that automatically discovers and maps the relationships and dependencies between applications and infrastructure components to provide a continuous “living” model of the IT environment. Unlike the “snapshots” provided by other discovery technologies, nLayers’ dynamic model allows IT organizations to track resource dependencies, demand, usage and service-levels in real time.
“nLayers InSight provides one of the key enablers for autonomic computing: A real-time, ’living’ view of applications and their interdependencies stored in an easily accessible federated CMDB,” said Gili Raanan, CEO and founder of nLayers. “With our unique ability to track the demand and usage of application resources over time, nLayers InSight offers a rapid, optimized means for IT organizations to efficiently grow their IT infrastructures while effectively managing change. Our involvement with IBM’s autonomic computing initiative further underscores the criticality of nLayers’ easily-integrated, agentless appliance for fully-automated application discovery and resource optimization.”
nLayers’ flagship product is nLayers InSight, an agentless appliance that automatically discovers and maps the relationships and dependencies between applications and infrastructure components to provide a “living” model of the IT environment. Unlike the limited, “snapshot” views offered by other discovery technologies, nLayers’ time-based, three-dimensional model allows IT organizations to continuously track resource dependencies, demand, usage and service levels in real-time. For nLayers’ customers, this model serves as the foundation for a wide range of critical IT initiatives, including change and configuration management, IT governance, capacity planning, business service management, and business continuity planning. nLayers is a privately held, venture-funded startup headquartered in San Jose, California, and at www.nlayers.com.
