Kansas City, MO - 3/2/2012 - Kansas City IT Professionals  (KCITP),  a grassroots community of 7500+ members in the Midwest,  has partnered with Symantec for “InfoSec night”.

The security-focused event, hosted by Johnson County Community College, will occur on March 21st from 4:30pm - 11:00pm and features a keynote from the CEO of Symantec, Enrique Salem. Mr. Salem will address the global threat landscape and how current IT trends require organizations to adopt new approaches to security. Technology leaders, IT security professionals and others in the industry will learn how they can protect business-critical information in today’s world.

A “Capture The Flag” event will follow the keynote.  Security professionals and ethical hackers will use their skills to retrieve a particular “flag” on a private network/server set up specifically for the event. Symantec has set aside $10,000 in cash and prizes, which includes $5,000 to the person who retrieves the pre-defined file.

“This is a fantastic opportunity for people in the Kansas City technology community to hear from Mr. Salem, who’s such a well respected leader in an ever-changing industry. We’re also excited to see individuals in the security community compete and learn from each other in the Capture The Flag challenge.”, said KCITP founder Michael Gelphman.
