The Chili Peppers go on their 2006 world tour

WEBWIRE

One of the hottest bands on the planet, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, have announced the kicking off of their 2006 World Tour following the recent release of their ninth studio album, “Stadium Arcadium”. Current popularity for the group has hit an all time high, with the album topping many charts worldwide and first single from the album, “Dani California,” being the band’s fastest-selling single, topping the charts in the US and 25 other countries and going to number 2 in the UK. The album managed to sell 442,000 copies in the United States alone in its first week of release, beating their previous fastest seller, By The Way, to become their best-selling album so far.

The UK leg of the tour is due to take in eleven dates across seven separate locations, but with massive demand for all the shows, and several nights already sold out, you will need to get in there quickly.

There can be few rock groups who have survived as long as the Chili’s and who have broken down as many musical barriers with their original styling and energy. Through an intoxicating fusion of punk and funk backed by energetic stage shows, the band have managed to see off tragedy and forge their own genre spanning path through the musical landscape. Tagged by the musical press as alternative rock, funk, funk rock, punk, grunge, indie, metal, they are difficult to categorize and always quick to surprise. Originally performing on-stage completely naked, except for a tube sock, they have managed to enthuse their music and shows with a vibrancy which continues to this day, making them one of the best live bands on the planet.

Whether you are a fan of their earlier work which let Flea have free reign for his vigorous slap bass style, or the later melodic bass lines on the albums Californication, or By The Way, this tour is a ‘must see’ event.
