NFL Playoffs 2012 began with 12 teams with equal opportunity to participate in the postseason, which each having the same goal in common, and that’s to play for the Vince Lombardi trophy.

Last weekend Alex Smith completed a 14 yard TD pass to Vernon Davis with 9 seconds left, as the 49ers were able to overcome a 462 yard, two touchdown performance by Drew Brees and pull out the 36-32 victory.

Defense was the key for the Giants last weekend as they held the Packers to just 10 points in the first half, and jumped out to a ten point lead at halftime. One of the keys to the teams success was the ability to put pressure on QB Aaron Rodgers without having to blitz a lot. This enabled the Giants secondary to double up on the Packer wideouts, and was the difference in the 37-20 win for New York.

As expected the Ravens and Patriots will be meeting in the AFC Championship this Sunday. Baltimore won the AFC North division with a record of 12-4, and came away victorious over the Houston Texans in last weekend’s divisional playoff contest.

Tom Brady finished the regular season making a case as to why he should be among candidates to win the MVP award. The QB finished with 5,235 yards, 39 touchdowns on the season, and put on a spectacular performance against the Denver Broncos in their divisional matchup. Brady completed 26 of 34 passes for 363 yards and six TD’s as the Patriots crushed the Broncos 45-10.
