Verizon Wireless Received The First-Ever Alliance For Workplace Excellence Health & Wellness Trailblazer Award

BASKING RIDGE, NJ — Verizon Wireless, owner of the nation’s most reliable wireless network, has been awarded the Health & Wellness Trailblazer Award by the Alliance for Workplace Excellence. The Health & Wellness Trailblazer Award recognizes businesses that are leading the way in fighting stress in the workplace with programs that promote mental and physical health. 2006 marks the first year that the Alliance for Workplace Excellence has given out this recognition.

Verizon Wireless was honored for its work/life programs, which provide resources to the company’s more than 58,000 employees. To help employees improve their health and well-being, Verizon Wireless currently operates 22 on-site Health and Wellness centers and employs a full-time staff dedicated to the health and wellness of employees. For $15 a month, employees have access to top of the line fitness equipment, health programs and seminars, smoking cessation classes, health fairs and screenings, flu shots and much more. Additionally, employees receive three “Quality at Work” messages per week, with motivational messages and health and wellness information to help keep their healthy lifestyle on track.
