No stranger to showcasing the talents of Canada’s finest musicians, Niagara Falls Canada welcomes a new generation of entertainers for the 2012 Niagara Falls New Years Eve Celebration, presented by Niagara Parks, ET Canada, and local partners.

The open-air concert takes place at the foot of Clifton Hill in Queen Victoria Park and has attracted some of Canada’s most exciting entertainers. The show starts on Saturday, December 31st, 7:30PM with emerging artist Stephanie McIlroy opening for the Sheepdogs, Saskatoon’s rock phenomenon, and JUNO winner Keshia Chanté. Following this, alternative rock legends, Our Lady Peace, will keep the crowd pumped as the clock ticks down to midnight with Simple Plan: Canada’s much loved pop/punk band, ushering in the 2012 new year! The event is expected to attract over 40,000 spectators, who will also be treated to two giant fireworks displays set for 8:45 p.m. and midnight.

Also, everyone who visits Niagara Falls this winter can enjoy the CAA Winter Festival of Lights, in full swing during the holiday season (free, November 5, 2011 to January 31, 2012), Falls Illumination (free, 5pm to 12am from Jan 1 – 31 & 6:30pm – 10pm Feb 1-28, 2012), Niagara’s newest winter attraction: TD Rink at the Brink, grand holiday displays throughout the city, and unique Niagara Falls events

The fun continues nearby along Clifton Hill’s world-famous Street of Fun by the Falls, which features many exciting attractions like the 175-foot tall Niagara SkyWheel, Casino Niagara, Ripley’s Museum, and the Great Canadian Midway—a 70,000 square-foot entertainment complex featuring over 300 games. The Clifton Hill Winter Fun Pass offers the best value in town for winter attractions, and includes The Niagara SkyWheel, Movieland Wax Museum, Galaxy Golf and Ghostblasters Dark Ride.

Clifton Hill also offers some great family restaurants in Niagara Falls, including the Boston Pizza/Strike Rock N’ Bowl entertainment centre, where visitors can sample great cuisine and relax before heading out to the New Years Party or other events.

If you’re looking for a quick getaway, the Comfort Inn on Clifton Hill offers the Family Fun Package, which is available weekends, holidays and school breaks during the winter season. This all-inclusive package includes 2 nights accommodations, Fun Pass attraction tickets and dining at Boston Pizza.

Niagara Falls offers a wonderful destination for families who want to experience a fun-filled outing this winter season. The accommodations, attractions and restaurants are affordable – with many exciting events being offered for free – there’s something for everyone in every family, from the very young to the very young at heart.
