Springer announces launch of Brain Imaging and Behavior

New journal for neuropsychology and other clinical neurosciences


New York/Heidelberg, Springer will launch Brain Imaging and Behavior in 2007. The journal will be of broad interest to researchers and clinicians in fields concerned with brain/behavior relationships such as neuropsychology, psychiatry, neurology, neurosurgery, radiology, rehabilitation and cognitive neuroscience.

Brain Imaging and Behavior will provide a forum for the discussion of discoveries, advances, and controversies in the field of functional brain imaging. It will publish innovative, clinically relevant research using neuroimaging approaches and emphasize studies that reveal the mechanisms underlying the disorders of higher brain function relevant to diagnosis, treatment monitoring and disease prevention. The quarterly, peer-reviewed journal will contain original research, critical reviews, short communications, news sections and letters to the editor. As an added feature, every issue will contain full-color functional and structural brain images. Dr. Andrew Saykin, Professor of Psychiatry, Radiology, and Computer Science at Dartmouth Medical School and College in New Hampshire, USA, will be Editor-in-Chief.

“We expect Brain Imaging and Behavior to become an important source of innovative research for the broad clinical neuroscience community,” said Dr. Saykin. “It will emphasize integrative and translational studies that place imaging results in context, including everything from clinical symptoms and cognitive changes to genetic tests and other biomarkers that reflect cellular and molecular processes.”

Springer will publish Brain Imaging and Behavior in both print and electronic formats. It will be available via SpringerLink, Springer’s online information platform and will include Online First™, a feature where articles are published online before they appear in print. In addition, it will offer all authors, via the Springer Open Choice program, the option of publishing their articles using the open access model (www.springer.com/openchoice).
