There is a bright spot in the slums of Dhaka, Bangladesh where the Vialisa/Korail Education Centre has been painted in cheerful pink, green, and blue. Since 2006, this centre has offered a special six-month program where youngsters are not only educated in reading, writing and mathematics, but also critical life-planning, personal hygiene, and job-seeking techniques. Numerous students took their new found confidence and increased self-reliance and successfully obtained gainful employment.
 
The children of Chilakaluripet, Andhra Pradesh, India were already struggling to continue their education before several cyclones and heavy rains destroyed crops earlier this year. Due to loss of basic needs for these children and their families, they have not been able to attend any school since the storms. Redemption Research for Health and Educational Development Society is working hard to retain the love of learning in these children by supplying uniforms, books and shoes to enable the youngsters to return to school. Redemption Research reaches out to all children below the poverty line regardless of caste and creed.
