Gibraltar Private Bank & Trust To Host Past American Bar Association President Stephen Zack for Discussion on U.S. Court System

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Dec. 1, 2011 --- Gibraltar Private Bank & Trust will host Stephen Zack, immediate past president of the American Bar Association and partner with Boise, Schiller and Flexner, LLP, for a special luncheon from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. on Dec. 6 at the Capital Grille in Miami.  The bank will also host a similar event with Zack on Dec. 19 in New York City.

Zack’s presentation, “Running on empty – can the court system survive more budget cuts?” will focus on how the recent economic events have further strained the inadequate funding of the court system resulting in vacancies, furloughs and courtroom closings and how these issues are having a long term impact on Americans and business owners. 

Zack served as ABA president from August 2010 through August 2011 and was the first Hispanic American to achieve this distinction.  Among his varied accomplishments, Zack was the first Hispanic-American and youngest president of the Florida Bar and one of the first members of the Cuban-American Bar Association. The Hispanic National Bar Association named him 2010 Latino Lawyer of the Year.

“There are several issues impacting the court’s ability to provide the Constitutional rights granted to U.S. Citizens,” said Zack.  “With this event, I hope to not only discuss my observations and experience, but also create a forum to discuss what ails and more importantly, the cures for our court system.”

The luncheon event is being hosted by Gibraltar’s legal services division, which specializes in providing private banking and lending services to attorneys and law firms.
