At the Open Innovation week to be held in Sao Paulo from 23-25 November at the Grand Hyatt Hotel, Saab will exhibit its Gripen fighter simulator on the opening day as an example of Swedish innovation and state of the art technologies that goes into the making of Gripen NG.

The Open Innovation week is the first Latin American seminar dedicated to discussions on open innovations. The aim is to exchange information on open innovation practices in Brazil and the rest of the world, leading to the creation of new found networks and partnerships.

A number of seminars will be held including presentations from Pontus de Laval, Saabs Chief Technology Officer, on R&T Arenas and from Fredrik Nordh, CEO of Saab Ventures, as a case about platforms for spin-outs, incubation and venture capital investments.

“We see exciting opportunities for our high tech defence and security products in Brazil and to develop new products together with Brazilian partners. When entering the Brazilian Market we want to do that in co-operation with Brazilian partners using their competence and their market experience. Therefore we are actively seeking partners and together develop projects for the future”, says Pontus de Laval.

Saab has extensive experience in close collaborative Research and Technolgy projects with a wide range of partners. Such R&T projects are often developed and performed within Neutral Innovation Clusters and driven by societal challenges. Such close co-operation has been the backbone in the development of Swedish high-tech industry, helping rank Sweden amongst the highest Innovation performers in the world. Many of our products including the Gripen Fighter has been developed and supported in this context.

“We want to develop such clusters in Brazil and connect them to our global cluster of Innovation Partners”, says Pontus de Laval.
