Gouda - Imtech N.V. (IM-AE, technical services provider in Europe) announces the acquisition of Dutch medical equipment specialist, Medrott. The acquisition will be implemented from January 1, 2012. Medrott has 20 employees and realises annual revenue of more than 2 million euro. The acquisition will be paid in cash and will directly contribute to the earnings per share and will enable Imtech to strengthen its position in the Dutch care & cure market. The acquisition also marks the start of an Imtech response to the technological challenges of the healthcare of tomorrow.

René van der Bruggen, CEO Imtech: ’Imtech is one of the larger European technical players in the care & cure market. This market accounts for approximately 4% of Imtech’s total 4.5 billion euro revenue. Imtech distinguishes itself as an implementation and maintenance partner for complex technical infrastructure with an emphasis on energy, ICT, electrical solutions and innovative air and climate solutions. Pooling this with knowledge of medical equipment makes it possible to offer total solutions, enabling Imtech to better serve Dutch hospitals and care organisations. This will lead to extra growth and at the same time, this pooling of technical competences makes it possible for Imtech to fulfil a leading role in the healthcare of tomorrow.’

Medrott’s profile
Medrott was established in 1996 and has offices in Brielle in the Netherlands and Zaventem in Belgium. The company is the leading technology specialist in the growing market of medical equipment in the Benelux. Medrott specializes in sales, management and maintenance of sensitive and high quality medical equipment. Medrott is also a medical technical services provider for corrective and preventive services for this equipment on site, but also in workplaces. In addition Medrott is active with inventories of medical equipment, advice and consultancy as well as the complete management (total care) of medical equipment for customers. For companies Medrott also offers third party technical services. The company represented exclusive brands like Barkey, Weyer, Stephan, IMT Medical, Medicop, Precision Medical and Carnet Medical. Specialist areas include neonatology, neonatal, respiratory, obstetrics, ICU’s, operating theaters, and precision measurement equipment, for instance medical gases. In the Benelux Medrott works for 220 hospitals and care institutions, as for various companies and ambulance services. Under Imtech’s strong financial wings, Medrott will be able to develop itself further excellently.

Cooperation leads to strong growth
Imtech is a strong partner in the care & cure market in the Benelux and offers total solutions for new, mainly complex technical infrastructures. This includes power stations, energy-saving, climate control, electrical solutions, access control, fire safety and nurse call systems etc. In addition, Imtech offers specific technological solutions in operating theatres, intensive care and complex treatment rooms. Imtech is also a strong technological maintenance partner. Furthermore, Imtech is a strong player in the ICT market in care and cure, with specific software, ICT infrastructure, business intelligence, and cloud computing and data centre technology. In total Imtech works in almost 150 hospitals and care organisations in the Benelux. The combination of technical infrastructure, ICT and technology in and around technical equipment, will make it possible to offer total solutions to healthcare organisations. With this, Imtech is anticipating the trend that technology will become more important in the care & cure market. This market is, after all, facing the challenge of working more efficiently and cheaper in response to the ageing population’s increased demand for healthcare. In addition, demand is increasing for technical quality that satisfies the strictest standards for hygiene and safety. Integration of all technological solutions forms Imtech’s answer to this problem.

Spanish experience proves that the Imtech approach works
More than a year ago, Imtech acquired the Spanish medical equipment specialist, Medical Engineering. Integration of this company with Imtech’s technical solutions in the Spanish care & cure market has already proven that strong extra growth can be realised. Imtech also aims to introduce this approach in other countries. The combination of technical infrastructure, and implementation and maintenance of electrical medical apparatus and equipment, has made it possible to offer total solutions to hospitals and care institutions and to realise cross selling.

The future of technology in healthcare
In the care & cure market, home care and healthcare are the growth markets of the future. Cost savings together with improved healthcare are only possible if first and second line healthcare work together perfectly. Integration of technological equipment and ICT technology, for example domotics, robotics and partly virtual, remote healthcare is only possible through technological integration of all technical solutions using the available medical equipment. Combining technological competences makes this ’healthcare of tomorrow’ possible. Imtech aims to fulfil a leading role in this.
