JACKSONVILLE, FL – Relationship coach and popular blogger Estelle Keese, known to many simply as “Mama E,” will relay an important message to Jacksonville residents in Health Zone 1 this Saturday – Healthy Relationships Lead To Healthy Lifestyles.

Keese will give the keynote address for the second annual “Back to Basics” Community Health Conference sponsored by Healthy Start’s Magnolia Project this Saturday, November 5.

“Back to Basics II” will feature free food, music, door prizes, resume assistance and haircuts. More than 20 local vendors will provide free health services at the event, including vision, blood pressure, glucose and cholesterol screenings, flu shots and HIV testing. Breakout sessions will be offered on a variety of health topics for teens and adults, and a special Kids Corner will be available for children.

Health Zone 1, Jacksonville’s urban core, contains zip codes 32202, 32204, 32206, 32208, 32209 and 32254. This area continues to be disproportionately affected by infant mortality when compared with the rest of Northeast Florida. Many risk factors that contribute to infant mortality can be mitigated simply by living a healthy lifestyle. “Back to Basics II” aims to address some of those risk factors.

The conference will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Hollybrook Homes Enrichment Center located at 104 King Street. Registration begins at 9 a.m.

A federally funded affiliate of the Healthy Start Coalition, the Magnolia Project was founded in 2000 to help reduce infant mortality rates and improve the health and well-being of Jacksonville women of childbearing age. Located in Pearl Plaza, the Magnolia Project serves more than 800 women annually in northwest Jacksonville through a variety of personalized services including case management, health education and outreach.
