US-based Graduates Wanted For International Talent Program
 
2 November 2011 – Houston-based international oil services group Aker Solutions opens the application period for its prestigious two-year International Talent Program. The United States has been selected as one of only five countries worldwide for a source of talents.
 
The Aker Solutions International Talent Program is an intensive two-year on-the-job learning experience, consisting of three eight-month assignments, covering different roles, businesses and locations within Aker Solutions’ global network of offices and technology and manufacturing centers.
 
This year the talents will be selected from the United States, Brazil, Norway, Malaysia, and – for the first time – the UK.
 
This program was launched in 2006 to attract the oil and gas industry’s brightest young talents worldwide. Last year, the program attracted almost 1000 applicants, of which nine candidates were invited to join the program.
 
“The ultimate aim of the International Talent Program is to prepare talents for future management positions in Aker Solutions,” says Sally Vardy, Vice President Human Resources, Aker Solutions in the United States. “The program offers an excellent first step on the career ladder. We use it to allow the candidates to broaden both their cultural and professional horizons, which are vital qualifications in a large international company like ours”.
 
Aker Solutions employs approximately 17,000 people in 30 countries worldwide and has aggregated annual revenues of approximately USD 6 billion. In the US, Aker Solutions has approximately 1,200 employees across its facilities in Houston and Katy, Texas, and Mobile, Alabama.
 
All candidates who have graduated from the International Talent Program have been offered – and accepted – positions within Aker Solutions. Many have taken on management positions in the regions they have been recruited from, participating in Aker Solutions’ global growth.
 
“The quality of candidates that get accepted into the program is exceptionally high. However, I would like to encourage everyone who fulfills the entry requirements to apply as we are looking for individuals with diverse experiences and competencies, and most importantly, who are highly motivated and desire a challenging development program in a global environment. In total we hope to select three to four candidates who are based in the USA,” adds Vardy.
 
In addition to the three eight-month assignments, candidates will regularly attend workshops around the world where participants in the program are brought together to discuss progress and share experiences. Each talent will also be teamed with a personal mentor who has extensive experience and coaching abilities, and will follow the talent throughout the program to facilitate personal and professional development.
 
“A typical candidate for the program has recently graduated with a masters degree in business, preferably with an undergraduate degree in engineering. The person is proactive and analytical, and has a strong ability to build trusted relationships. Being a global program, international exposure is important as well as fluency in English,” concludes Vardy.
