Budget Pilot Supplies Aviation Map Changeover in Effect.

 Brisbane, Australia, 1st November 2011- the leading web based aviation supplier  Budget Pilot Supplies announced today that a new series of aviation maps are available for Australian Airspace Users.

According to Steve Lee “pilots using the Airservices Australia maps and charts dated June 2nd 20011 are required to change over their charts to the new 17th November 2011 charts in the next few days to maintain currency. This affects all visual flight rules and instrument flight rules charts for the next six months” says Budget Pilot Supplies managing director Steve Lee.

Australian Pilot Charts produced by the Australian Government’s arm Airservices Publication Unit produces these charts on a 26 week cycle. The cycle is coming to an end and pilots are reminded that it is a legal requirement to have current charts either paper or electronic on board their aircraft.

Lee said “in addition to the charts the En Route Supplement Australia (ERSA) is also due to change over on the 17th November 2011, this is issued on a 13 week cycle with amendments issued for military users every 4 weeks”.

This does may not affect Australian Jeppesen Airways Manual holders as these pilots are issued their new maps in the revision service that coincides with the change over date.
The change over does not affect the World Aeronautical Charts (WAC) as these are edition based and not subject to an end date as such.

Flight Operations Departments should start the procurement process to maintain currency during the change over period, Civil Aviation Safety Authority Inspectors routinely check operators for correct chart date and recency.
