JACKSONVILLE, FL (October 13, 2011) — Enduris, a leading manufacturer of PVC decking, railing, and vinyl fencing, has just announced their code-approved cellular PVC decking, Endeck, and their newly developed Endeck PVC Hybrid Capped decking has been awarded the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (Cal Fire) Certification. It was also determined that Endeck has a Class A Flame Spread--the best rating awarded. The rigorous tests were performed at Underwriters Laboratories, Inc., Fire Protection Division.
The stringent California Fire Code established in 2005 minimum standards for the protection of life and property by increasing the ability of a building located in any Fire Hazard Severity Zone within State Responsibility Areas or any Wildland-Urban Interface Fire Area (WUI) to resist the intrusion of flames or burning embers projected by a vegetation fire. This code requires exterior building materials (roofing, siding, windows, insulation and decking) used in any of the areas of the state designated as prone to wild fires to be tested and certified as ignition-resistant materials.
IGNITION-RESISTANT MATERIAL is any product which when tested in accordance with ASTM E 84 for a period of 30 minutes, shall have a flame spread of not over 25 and show no evidence of progressive combustion.

“We knew if we could pass the Cal Fire code, we would be in a very small, select group of decking manufacturers,” said John Polidan, president. “We were actually told our decking products passed the tests ‘robustly’ on the first trial.”
“We’re excited about the opportunities this opens up for us in the state of California,” said Rick Wearne, sales and marketing manager. “But with all the portable firepits, charcoal grills and turkey fryers showing up in the backyards across America, we also feel this fire-resistant certification will make just as much sense in any of our other decking markets.”

Enduris, headquartered in Jacksonville, FL, has been manufacturing the highest quality code approved Cellular PVC decking, code approved vinyl railing, lineals for vinyl fencing, vinyl gates and all associated accessories since 1998. They more recently have added Enspire™ low maintenance ornamental aluminum fencing. Visit the website at www.enduris.com.
