BEAVERTON, Ore., - Tektronix, Inc. (NYSE: TEK), a leading, worldwide provider of test, measurement and monitoring instrumentation, announced an extensive range of new and enhanced products the company will feature at the International Broadcasting Convention (IBC), September 8-12, 2006 on Stand 9.429. Tektronix will showcase leadership products across its video portfolio from SD to HD to MPEG that support the ongoing transition to next generation technologies.

Recent acquisitions have brought Tektronix even greater strength in IP analysis and have enabled the company to extend its IP and video technology capabilities. Tektronix is focused on blending its video and communications expertise to provide a seamless portfolio with integrated technologies and services for a broad range of delivery networks. Tektronix will be demonstrating the latest in IP technologies on its stand.

Video and Audio Signal Monitoring with Next Generation Waveform Monitors
Tektronix will showcase the new family of multi-format waveform monitors that offer industry-leading performance, reliability, and flexibility. The WFM6100, WFM7000 and WFM7100 offer customers the widest range of product configurations and upgrades, and industry-first capabilities that enable the seamless migration from analogue video and audio to complete HD/SD SDI and digital audio solutions.

The WFM6100 and the WFM7100 Series provide all new troubleshooting and monitoring abilities to solve problems across multiple formats and even remote sites. The CaptureV capability, new to the WFM6100 and WFM7100, can capture an entire frame of video data, either user-initiated or automatically, on the occurrence of a trigger event such as gamut alarms. CaptureVu enables engineers to more quickly determine the cause of intermittent problems and diagnose problems at remote, un-staffed sites.

Expanded Functionality for the WVR Waveform Rasterizers
Like the WFM family of monitors, the WVR7100 provides Dolby E and Dolby Digital (AC-3) monitoring capabilities to meet the demands of broadcast and post-production applications, but in a 1 RU configuration. Tektronix will also be showcasing the addition of Eye pattern display, jitter measurements and cable length measurement for High Definition-Serial Digital Interface (HD-SDI) and Standard Definition-Serial Digital Interface (SD-SDI) signals to its WVR7100 and WVR6100 waveform rasterizers.

The monitoring capabilities of the WVR and WFM monitors indicate to engineers system degradations before they become quality problems, reducing time and effort in fault detection, problem diagnosis and failure recovery.

New Solutions for IPTV
Tektronix will demonstrate new solutions for IPTV equipment development and service deployment including Compressed Video ES analysis, TS Analysis, IP Analysis, Diagnostics and Monitoring as well as TS Multiplexing for set-top-box and infrastructure test and verification.

The MTM400, which can monitor a Multiple Program TS using IP over 10/100BaseT and Gigabit Ethernet, will be on display. IP layer measurements include dropped and out of order packets, bit rate, delay variation and alarms for preset thresholds and conditions

Content Verification Solution
The world’s first automated verification system for file-based digital video and audio content will be on display at IBC. Cerify is the only product that fully tests all aspects of stored compressed video and audio quality to ensure it meets the system parameters, formats, resolutions, bit-rates, video/audio quality levels and compliance/correctness to a wide-range of specified standards. Compressed digital content is complex and can use different standards, resolutions, formats and metadata that must be accurately specified and encoded if the content is going to reach the end-viewer and be played correctly. With Cerify, the broadcaster knows the content is correct before it is transmitted, ensuring higher levels of end-customer viewing satisfaction.

Compressed Video Analysis/Generation Solutions
Tektronix will showcase the new MTS4EA ES Analyzer version 5.0 that now features extensive audio analysis. The AV Delay Measurement provides a complete solution for measuring AV delay in an encoding system. The Audio Analysis checks for compliance to standards and quickly provides easy-to-understand, full analysis of all aspects of the compression performance used.

Tektronix will also demonstrate the new RTX130A integrated MPEG and RF signal generator. The RTX130A offers both unmodulated and RF modulated playout of MPEG transport streams, supporting both cable (QAM A, B & C) and terrestrial (ATSC) standards. The RTX130A is extremely easy to use and its portability also allows field use for transmission system emulation, fault finding and debug. The new functionality provided by the RTX130A translates directly into significantly reduced software development, testing and validation times for developers in both the consumer and professional MPEG markets.
