Strategic Play Speed Networking Session
On September 29, 2011 the members of the Semiahmoo Rotary Club, along with their guests, met to engage in a StrategicPlay session named “FACECLUB.” The goal of the session was to increase engagement among the members by providing them with an opportunity to become better acquainted with other members of their club, as well as the members’ spouses and partners.
Linda Whitehead, the Membership Chair, said “Our new member committee worked with Jacquie from Strategic Play to design and facilitate an engaging, interactive event. Members and their guests were able to connect at a new level and the creative activity was fast-paced, high energy, and lots of fun. The enriched relationships that were formed that evening will contribute to the aim of developing more engaged and committed Rotarians who bring their talents to bear to improve the quality of lives for others. The only complaint we heard was that there wasn’t enough time! I would highly recommend Jacquie and her team to assist an organization in designing a program targeted at achieving their strategic planning goals. "
To kick off the meeting, each participant made a nameplate using a pre-planned template. They completed questions such as name, hometown, arts and entertainment, sports and leisure, etc. They further individualized their nameplates by adding stickers and photos to tell their stories. Then all 35 participants engaged in speed networking by sitting in pairs and presenting their cards. Individuals rotated to new partners every two minutes.
