Acupuncture Book "Meridian Circuit Systems" Continues to be Popular Among Chinese Medicine Doctors

The acupuncture book, “Meridian Circuit Systems: A Channel Based Approach to Pattern Identification,” continues to make a strong impression on acupuncturists and those in the field of Chinese medicine.  Released in January of 2011 the book is growing in popularity and is now being distributed internationally.

What makes the book unique from other books on Chinese medicine is that it goes into great detail about how to use a meridian based system of pattern identification.  While most acupuncturists are using zang-fu or 5-element approaches, the book provides a unique way of understanding diseases and symptoms according to the networks that exist between the channels.  For instance, syndromes that affect either the stomach or large intestine may be understood as a yang ming pattern.  Since the yang ming shares connections with the tai yin and the jue yin, we can distinguish between a yang ming – tai yin pattern and a yang ming – jue yin pattern.  In yang ming – tai yin syndromes we will observe symptoms in the stomach or large intestine occurring with imbalances in the spleen and/or lungs.  This type of pattern is common with conditions like food allergies, asthma, and Candida infections.

For syndromes involving the yang ming – jue yin organs, stomach and large intestine conditions are typically being affected by the liver or pericardium.  This includes conditions like liver overacting on the stomach, liver qi stagnation obstructing the bowels, or stress related abdominal complaints.

While the book makes many interesting correlations between meridian based approaches and zang-fu methods, the real strength of the book is the way in which it presents a complete system for doing pattern identification and treatment based entirely on the associations between the channels.

In addition to the book, an online course covering the material is also available and is approved by the NCCAOM for 5 continuing education units.  For information about the book and online course visit the Integrative Healing Society.

Redwing Books and Amazon are distributing the book in the US, in the UK the book may be purchased through Chinese Medicine Times, and in Australia the book may be found at China Books.
