Don Lilley, president of eWatertest.com, is pleased to announce that his company has come up with a better, and cheaper way for well owners to test their well water for harmful bacteria.

Mr. Lilley said in an interview, “Up until now, If you want to have your drinking water analyzed for the presence of bacteria, along with other potential contaminants, all mail-order labs have required you to do the following:

  1. Place a cold pack in your freezer for at least one day prior to return shipment.
  2. Fill the sample vials with your drinking water.
  3. Remove the frozen cold pack from the freezer.
  4. Pack the Styrofoam shipping box with your water samples and the frozen cold pack.
  5. Rush the box to the return delivery service–The Same Day You Collect The Samples.
  6. Return the shipping box using Overnight Delivery.

This is all necessary because the recommended holding time and temperature required to test for the presence of harmful bacteria when testing drinking water is very narrow and must be adhered to assure accurate results.

We used to test drinking water for harmful bacteria this way until we stepped back and asked ourselves if we really need to put our customers through these steps, the answer is No!

Why? Because we discovered a very reliable and simple way for our customers to analyze their well drinking water for the presence of bacteria themselves...

without having to adhere to acceptable temperature and holding times normally involved in shipping samples back to the lab by mail.”

Mr. Lilley further said, “Our customers are telling us that they really like the fact they don’t have to rush their samples back to our lab to test for the other contaminants that may be in their well drinking water. The other contaminants are not affected by temperature or holding time, so the water samples can be shipped using less expensive postal services. They also tell us it’s really easy to do the self-test. Many are already ordering additional bacteria test kits so they can monitor their well water for harmful bacteria on a more frequent basis. If they have needed to treat their well, they also want to re-test after the treatment and tell us they want to do it themselves because it’s so easy and extremely cost effective.”

The company is looking forward to sharing this information. This is especially true for those people whose drinking water that comes from their private well and who are concerned about the best way to conduct periodic water testing to make sure their drinking water is safe.
