New AMD-based systems from Fujitsu Siemens Computers reduce electricity consumption by up to 23 percent

Munich/Germany , - With energy prices continuing to soar, IT decision-makers are becoming increasingly attracted to power-saving PCs. Fujitsu Siemens Computers, the leading European IT manufacturer, is now launching two unique energy-conscious ESPRIMO professional PCs. Based on the new Energy Efficient AMD Desktop Processors for socket AM2, these systems enable an up to 23 percent reduction in electricity use.

This marks another important step forward for the companys green PC strategy, which is based on the use of environmentally conscious materials, resource-saving production techniques and low power consumption. The ESPRIMO E5615 small form factor PC and ESPRIMO P5615 microtower will be available as of mid of June 2006 for prices starting at 599 (e.g. in Germany, incl. VAT).

Comparison tests with predecessor models with comparable configuration have demonstrated that 100 users with ESPRIMO E5615 with AMD processors can save up to an annual power savings of 10,000. Customers who also use Fujitsu Siemens Computers monitors with patented Switched Monitor Outlet, which controls the electricity supply via the PC, achieve a further savings of around 1,100 per year.

Fujitsu Siemens Computers stands for exceptionally resource-friendly production methods and environmentally-sustainable products, commented Peter Esser, Executive Vice President Volume Products & Supply Operations at Fujitsu Siemens Computers. In March 2001, we presented a Green PC with the first lead-free mainboard, and our professional PCs und notebooks have complied with the RoHS guidelines restricting the use of hazardous substances since January, even though they do not go into effect until July. The remarkably energy-conscious ESPRIMO models mark the continuation of our strategy to go above and beyond the environmental standards typical to the market or required by law.

With the ESPRIMO P5615, Fujitsu Siemens Computers has also introduced a new housing, which is based on the latest BTX mainboard standard and incorporates a more efficient cooling system and improved serviceability features. As a result, components can be exchanged faster and the drives no longer require an additional fan. The bottom line is that they consume even less energy.
