Mexico: Banamex Supports Social Development Programs in Baja California

Mexicali, Baja California – Citigroup Inc. (NYSE: C)- Today the first resources generated by the savings of the people of Baja California in the Baja California Invermático Card, were presented and which in turn will be distributed to different organizations that work for the well-being of the most vulnerable groups of the state. The institutions that receive the support provided by the Grupo Financiero Banamex, by means of Invermático Estados, are the following: The Museo Sol de Niño A.C. Board, The State System for the Comprehensive Development of the Baja California Families (Sistema Estatal para el Desarrollo Integral de la Familia de Baja California (DIF)) and the Ministry of Social Development of the Government of the State of Baja California.

The donation was presented by Lic. Roberto Hernández Ramírez, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Banco Nacional de México and was received by Mr. Eugenio Elorduy Walther, Governor of the State of Baja California, who was accompanied by Mrs. María Elena Blackaller de Elorduy, President of the DIF System of Baja California, during a ceremony that took place in the Museo Sol de Niño facilities in this city.

Among the important guests at the event were the following: Lic. Bernardo Martínez Aguirre, Secretary General of the Government of the State; Ing. Armando Arteaga King, Minister of Planning and Finance: Lic. Carlos Armando Reinoso Nuño, Minister of Social Development: and Mr. Carlos Alberto Cerda Arizmendi, Director of Control and Assessment for the State. On behalf of Banamex the following were present: Ing. Eugenio Zubiría Maqueo. Banamex Northwestern Division Director; Mr. Pablo Jesús Amador Rubio, Banamex Regional Director and Ms. Roxana Murúa Martínez Beltrán, Assistant Director for Crédito Empresarial Baja California.

The total amount of the Invermático Baja California funds that were presented was $2,960,000 pesos. One million pesos will be given to the Patronato Museo Sol de Niño A.C. for the “IMAX” project. Another one million pesos will be given to the Centro de Rehabilitación Integral and to the Parque Adoptado Arcoiris de Tijuana, whose main objective is the rehabilitation of physically challenged children and young people. The Ministry of Social Development of the State will receive $960,000 pesos that will be distributed among various local organizations that are well known by the people of Baja California.

The Invermático Baja California donation corresponds to the contribution that Banamex is making, considering as a point of reference a percentage of the savings of the clients that have the Tarjeta Invermático Baja California. Actions such as these help to confirm to the community of the State of Baja California the commitment of actively participating in the communities where we live and work, that Banamex made more than 120 years ago to each one of its clients.
