*Microsite makes BASF innovations more accessible to customers
*New insights thanks to 3D animations, innovation hotspots and video clips

The smart forvision concept car developed jointly with Daimler is not only on display at the 64th International Motor Show in Frankfurt but also now online at www.smartforvision.basf.com. For the official opening of the IAA, BASF has lifted the curtain on the innovative concept car’s virtual showroom. The microsite was specially developed for touchscreen computers like the iPad. And it has also been optimized for smartphone users. This means BASF’s innovations in the smart forvision will be accessible on several different platforms.

The showroom is perfect for those wishing to take a closer look at the smart forvision’s technological highlights. Features such as 3D animations and exciting video clips offer fascinating insights into the smart forvision and make its futuristic design and innovative technologies tangible for users online.

“Online communication at BASF must be as innovative as its research. This microsite clearly reflects this ambition,” says Elisabeth Schick, Senior Vice President Communications & Government Relations BASF Group. “The 3D experience is just as exciting for scientists as it is for car enthusiasts.”

Using 3D technology, so-called hotspots lead to more detailed information about the innovations, such as the all-plastic wheels or the solar roof. Here users can discover where each BASF innovation is deployed in the concept car and how it works.

A key feature of the microsite are video clips that describe in vivid detail how the innovations came about. BASF and Daimler engineers talk about the project and describe the close collaboration that made the smart forvision possible.

The microsite’s newsroom provides up-to-date press releases, an event calendar and contacts for journalists.

About the smart forvision concept car

The concept car presented at the IAA 2011 combines futuristic design with innovative technologies in the areas of energy efficiency, lightweight design and temperature management. Researchers and developers from both companies have succeeded in combining a total of five auto world premieres in the smart forvision. Transparent organic solar cells, transparent organic light-emitting diodes, all-plastic wheels, new lightweight body components and infrared-reflective films and coatings lower energy consumption, in this way enhancing the car’s driving range and comfort.
