Discovery Summit spotlights innovative uses of JMP® statistical discovery software

CARY, NC – Neuroscience and blackjack at Discovery Summit 2011? Keynote speeches at the annual analytics conference offer two perspectives on improving decision making by overcoming biases and shortcomings. Convening Sept. 13-16 in Denver, Discovery Summit is hosted by the JMP business unit of SAS, the world leader in business analytics software and services.

Keynote speaker Jonah Lehrer, author of How We Decide and Proust Was a Neuroscientist , adeptly explains science to the layperson. Lehrer will discuss how understanding the inner workings of the brain can enhance decision making. As for analytics, he says, “These analytic algorithms allow us to compensate for the blind spots of the brain, to escape those ancient instincts that might lead us astray.”

Jeffrey Ma, author of The House Advantage: Playing the Odds to Win Big in Business, was a member of the famed MIT blackjack team portrayed in the film 21. Ma’s keynote will show how to harness the power of analytics to make better bottom-line business decisions. He will lead an interactive blackjack demo at a cocktail reception for attendees.

SAS co-founder and Executive Vice President John Sall will give a keynote presentation about speeding innovation and show examples using JMP software.
