DirectRooms.com – Thousands of Walkers Head to Antalya in Turkey for October Spectacular
DirectRooms reports that the International Volkssportverband (IVV) society is organising a special programme of walks and volkssports for its members in Antalya this October.
The 12th IVV Olympiad will see organised walks around the Turkish city where participants will be walking amongst the region’s ancient cities, beautiful waterfalls and canyons.
Volkssports are an organised event that sees people walking, cycling or swimming around a set route. It’s not intended to be a race however as the emphasis is on promoting good health and improving physical fitness. People taking part can choose how they cover the routes which also vary in length to provide courses of all levels of fitness.
The schedule runs from 19th to 23rd October 2011 and walks start on 20th at the Olympiad Village where walks of 5km and 10km can be undertaken. Day two is filled with Olympiad sports with a range of walks starting at 4km up to 42km. Cycling and swimming are also included and then the last day will have walks throughout the morning before the closing ceremony in Ataturk Park.
Around 25,000 people from around the world are expected to be travelling to Antalya to take part and see the stunning scenery as the area is known for combining sea and mountain views with plenty of sunshine.
Lek Boonlert, marketing head at DirectRooms commented: “With this many people arriving at one time getting into a suitable Antalya City Centre hotel will be hard as most locations are set to become full. People should search online beforehand and make bookings early.”
