First flight from Munich to Central America

Next summer Lufthansa is launching a new service from Munich to Mexico City. The new route will be operated from 26 March 2012 by an Airbus A340-600. From that date on, Mexico City will be served five times a week from Munich, supplementing the daily flights already operated by Lufthansa from Frankfurt. “We are delighted to be able to offer a connection from our Munich hub to Central America. In economic terms, in particular, Mexico is gaining in importance for the Bavarian market,” says Thomas Klühr, Lufthansa German Airlines Board member.

Mexico City has a population of 30 million, making it one of world’s largest metropolitan areas. The city is the political, business, social and cultural capital of the country and also its largest transport hub. Moreover, with its numerous museums and monuments, it is a fascinating tourist destination. The city also has one of the richest and most varied theatre scenes worldwide.
