EDB ErgoGroup enters into telephony agreement with Statkraft

WEBWIRE

Oslo - Statkraft has chosen EDB ErgoGroup as the company’s future supplier of telephony and communications services. The agreement extends to mobile telephony, fixed line telephony, and user equipment, together with related services. The agreement runs for five years and represents total contract value of NOK 35 million.

“This contract gives us the opportunity to be involved in establishing an entirely new platform for electronic communications at Statkraft. It will also strengthen our market position as we focus on delivering communications services”, comments Thorolf Thorstensen, Head of Global IT Operations at EDB ErgoGroup.

EDB ErgoGroup is not a traditional telecommunications operator, but instead delivers a unified and more comprehensive range of communications-related IT services to its customers. The solutions delivered typically include integration with the customer’s other ICT systems to facilitate greater internal and external interaction (known as “Unified Communications” ), Single Point of Contact/customer services, service optimisation, consulting advice on technology infrastructure and business processes, administrative support functions and related services. For its deliveries to Statkraft, EDB ErgoGroup will use Telenor as a telecommunications operator and subcontractor.

Telenor will be responsible for the production of services delivered through the public telecommunications network, while EDB ErgoGroup will have overall responsibility for the contract and will act as systems integrator and supplier of value-added services. This delivery model has become a typical structure for collaboration between suppliers of telecommunications as the range of services involved becomes increasingly advanced and complex. This structure also paves the way for new opportunities to help customers optimise and develop their business operations.
