Third Coast Training’s Local Elite Athlete Matt McCurdy Looks to Repeat Victory at the Houston Chevron Marathon While Raising Charity Funds

Pasadena, Texas (August 23, 2011) - Third Coast Training’s Matt McCurdy is looking to repeat as 1st local elite runner this year in the Chevron Houston Marathon. In addition, Matt is also raising money for two charities – Skills for Living and Bay Area Turning Point.

“My goal this year is to repeat being the 1st local elite in the Chevron Houston Marathon while running a personal best time,” said Matt McCurdy. Matt ran the 2011 Chevron Houston Marathon in 2:31:08. A resident physician in radiation oncology by trade, Matt has been preparing for the challenging marathon with Third Coast Training. 

The Chevron Houston Marathon is a yearly marathon held in the city of Houston that will be celebrating its 40th Anniversary in 2012. Being a popular marathon, participation will be limited to 24,000 runners with a completion time limit of six hours.In running the Houston Chevron Marathon, Matt will be raising money for two charities – Skills for Living and Bay Area Turning Point. Skills for Living provides high quality, comprehensive financial literacy training and mentoring to the working poor in the Houston area.

Bay Area Turning Point, a local leader in violence-prevention, serves victims of domestic violence and sexual assault in the Bay Area. Both charity organizations look to benefit from Matt’s participation in the upcoming marathon.
