Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine Study Tour to China Planned for the Spring of 2012

The Integrative Healing Society, www.ihsociety.com, has announced its plans to hold another educational tour to China for students and professionals of Chinese medicine.  While a similar tour is also planned for October of 2011, the event to be held in the spring will offer participants biannual opportunities to study in China.

The Chinese medicine study tours will be held in Hangzhou, China in conjunction with Zhejiang Chinese Medical University.  Both tours are approved by the NCCAOM for 30 continuing education credits, and offer professionals of Chinese medicine and acupuncture the opportunity to study at university hospitals in China.

The busy clinics at the university hospitals offer students a chance to see senior level doctors treating 30 - 40 people in three-hour shifts.  In the acupuncture departments, complex cases such as strokes, Bells palsy, and spinal injuries are often treated with great success.  In addition, the techniques and point prescriptions used in China are distinctly different from what is often taught and practiced in Western countries.

For those interested in studying Chinese herbs there are opportunities to specialize in numerous departments including internal medicine, gynecology, and gastroenterology.  The herbal clinics buzz with activity, and the doctors writing the herbal prescriptions are highly experienced in their respective departments.  While patients in China also consult with Western trained doctors, many of the patients receiving herbs in China have been unable to receive the care they need from Western medicine.  For this reason, it is not uncommon to see patients being treated with Chinese herbs for complex conditions like cancer and infertility.
