August 10, 2011 – Buena Park, Calif., – Shelly BMW of Orange County is proud to confirm, BMW has unveiled the i3 and i8 concept vehicles.
These concept vehicles provide a glimpse of the first electrically powered production cars from the new BMW i sub-brand. BMW’s i3 will be launched in 2013 and the i8 will become available in 2014.

With its zero-emission electric drive and a range of approximately 93 miles, the BMW i3 Concept has been specifically developed for use in an urban environment, its dynamic125 kW electric motor and rear-wheel drive ensuring BMW-style dynamic handling.
The BMW i3 Concept combines an extremely low weight of 2,755 pounds with optimal interior space and the highest crash safety levels. With four seats and large luggage compartment, this vehicle is fully suited for everyday use.
