Artfinder brings fine art to Flipboard
Flipboard users can now enjoy curated images from Artfinder’s unparalleled online catalogue of over 500,000 works of art
Artfinder (www.artfinder.com), the home for art on the web, today brought its unparalleled online fine art collection to Flipboard, the social magazine for iPad. Artfinder is now a featured content provider in Flipboard’s Art & Photos category.
Flipboard pulls in selected content from the web via social networks like Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter, to create an automatically updated, personalised magazine on the iPad. Artfinder on Flipboard draws from over 500,000 works from more than 2,500 galleries and exhibitions worldwide to offer an accessible, lean-back way to enjoy fine art images alongside this content.
The artworks showcased are curated by the Artfinder community. On the Artfinder website, users favourite artworks they like, adding them to personal ‘Collections’ on their Artfinder profile. Artfinder on Flipboard draws from this regularly updated stream of favourited images to present a crowd-curated gallery of high quality fine art.
Artfinder on Flipboard will enable users to discover images from the entire span of art history, from Old Masters, to 19th and 20th century icons, to contemporary artists and beyond. Artworks can be favourited, shared with friends across social networks, and prints can be bought, all from within Flipboard.
Spencer Hyman, Artfinder co-founder and CEO, said: “Flipboard is one of those amazing apps that really shows what the iPad is capable of, and we’re very excited to be a part of that experience. Our mission at Artfinder is to make art accessible and shareable, and Artfinder on Flipboard is one of the simplest, most effective ways to do that. It’s a perfect way to bring the joy of fine art in your daily life.”
Artfinder on Flipboard represents the latest in a series of Artfinder-powered iPad art experiences. Since launching in March, Artfinder has created 14 iPad art apps, showcasing the work of artists including Constable, Cy Twombly and Watteau, as well as exhibitions from the Royal Academy, Chelsea School of Art and the Cass Sculpture Foundation.
