AK Steel Announces September 2011 Surcharges For Electrical And Stainless Steels

West Chester, OH, —AK Steel (NYSE: AKS) has advised its customers that a $460 per ton surcharge will be added to invoices for electrical steel products shipped in September 2011. September 2011 surcharges for the broad range of stainless steel products that AK Steel produces can be found on the company’s web site at www.aksteel.com.

AK Steel’s surcharges are based on reported prices for raw materials and energy used to manufacture the products, with the July 2011 purchase cost used to determine the September 2011 surcharges.

AK Steel previously informed its stainless steel customers that it will change the timing and method of calculation for its stainless steel surcharges, effective with shipments on October 2, 2011. Details about the changes are available on the company’s website.
