Deliver Your News to the World – Swimmers compete in the Mana Island swim challenge during 16 to 18 September 2011

DirectRooms reveals that Fiji’s Mana Island will be the setting for a series of fun swimming races where participants can explore the coral reefs or challenge for honours in the gruelling 10km race.

The Mana Fiji SwimFest is set to take place over three days in September and the races will have something for swimmers of all abilities as the festival is aimed at being as inclusive as possible. Even non-swimmers can be part of the action, as although they might not take to the water activities include the award’s lunch and a traditional opening ceremony.

In the evening on Friday 16th September 2011, attendees will be greeted with a warm Fijian welcome where cocktails will be served along with the murky brown water, but strangely good, kava.

The following day entrants can choose from a 500m, 1km or slightly more challenging 3km race. All of these will, weather permitting, be staged by North Beach however if the water becomes too choppy the races will switch to South Beach.

The final day on 18th September is only for the fittest swimmers as the course stretches for 10km. Along the way swimmers will take in South, Sunset and North Beaches, a dash over to the sand island of Nukumana and then the last section by North Beach again.

Lek Boonlert, marketing head at DirectRooms commented: “Cheap Nadi hotels ( will be getting filled as people come to take part and in all cases early reservations are recommended.”
