The third annual ORBIS Pull for Sight fundraiser is returning to the FedEx cargo Facility at Toronto Pearson this summer. On August 20, ORBIS Canada is challenging you to a pull-off: with the finish line 12 feet away, how fast can you and 24 friends pull a 60-ton aircraft?

Teams of up to 25 people will compete to pull a Boeing 757 FedEx cargo plane a distance of 12 feet in the shortest amount of time, and bragging rights will be awarded to the team who can set the fastest pulling time this year!

“We launched the first ORBIS Pull for Sight campaign in Toronto three years ago and we are excited to come back this year to connect with new and long-time supporters,” Daniella Bianchi, Director of Development at ORBIS Canada, said. “The generous donations from Torontonians continue to play an important role in supporting ORBIS’s mission to save sight worldwide and in doing so, sending Volunteer Medical Professionals into developing countries to train and teach local eye care professionals.”

Participants of the plane pull are being asked to donate a minimum of $1,250 per team (or $50 per person) to support the ORBIS Kids Sight program, which benefits blind and visually impaired children throughout the developing world. Admission is free for friends and families as they cheer on the teams and enjoy kid-friendly activities on site.

This annual event is a joint effort between ORBIS and FedEx with support from the Greater Toronto Airports Authority in coordination and airside access.

If you are over 14 years old, you can come set the time to beat in the 2011 ORBIS Pull for Sight national campaign. Advanced team registration is required by calling toll-free at 1-877-672-4722 or by emailing us.
