TMC Provides Aid to United States for Tornado Relief

WEBWIRE

Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) offers its most heartfelt sympathy to those affected by the devastating tornadoes that ravaged the southern states of the United States in the second half of April.

In an effort to provide relief for the devastated areas, TMC employees raised funds that have been matched by TMC, resulting in a total of 330,000 dollars that will be equally distributed to the Governor’s Emergency Relief Fund of Alabama and the Mississippi Disaster Recovery Fund.

Concerning the donation, TMC President Akio Toyoda said: “I was very moved by the warm support and words of encouragement given by the United States and many other countries and regions to Japan following the Great East Japan Earthquake in March. I do not believe that the donation we are giving can be compared to those we received, but as a company, TMC wished to somehow express the strong feelings of gratitude carried by our employees. With this donation, I, and all of those at TMC, fervently wish for the speedy revival of the areas affected by the tornadoes.”

In addition to the donation made by TMC, Toyota in North America and its employees also donated 1 million dollars in May to the American Red Cross to aid the relief efforts.
