NEW YORK — Geoffrey Greenblatt, an eight-year media agency veteran with extensive experience in digital game development and gaming strategy, was named Director of Gaming for Mindshare North America, a new position.

The announcement was made today by Scott Sorokin, Mindshare’s Global Digital Leader. Greenblatt’s appointment is effective immediately, and he will report to Sorokin.

“Currently more than half of all American adults play a digital game of some kind whether online, console or smartphone,” said Sorokin. “Gaming is rapidly becoming a hot medium for brand messaging, and this move represents Mindshare’s commitment to make gaming a key part of our strategic offering.”

Greenblatt has most recently worked as Associate Director, Gaming Strategy for Mindshare Interaction. In his new role, he will work to deliver innovative gaming-oriented strategies and executions within the larger communication planning architecture for clients throughout Mindshare’s North American network.

“Geoff is the perfect person for the job,” said Sorokin. “His knowledge of gaming is extensive and his passion for it is contagious. As a leading member of the Sprint team he has developed strategies and launched gaming programs that span AOL, EA, XBOX, Playstation, Gamestop, WildTangent and Facebook platforms.”

Mindshare is one of four global WPP media agency networks within GroupM, along with Maxus, MEC, and MediaCom.

Prior to joining Mindshare, he worked at MediaVest from 2003-2006, first as a National Broadcast Assistant and Planner for P&G, and later, as a Digital Media Planner and Buyer, planning, developing and managing digital media and gaming tactics for the Coca-Cola brands.
