A Better You Weight Management Centers Take on the Obesity Crisis, as New Jersey’s Obesity Rate Skyrockets

WEBWIRE

According to a new report from the Trust for America’s Health and Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, New Jersey’s adult obesity rate is on the rise. Weighing in at a whopping 24.1%, the state’s obesity rate has gone up more than 90% over the past 15 years.

New Jersey is not alone though. In fact, according to the study, seven states have doubled their obesity rates, 10 states have increased their obesity rates by 90 percent, 22 states saw an increase by at least 80 percent and 12 states have obesity rates over 30 percent.

Currently, two-thirds of all the states have obesity rates that exceed 25 percent.

“It is sad to see that 62 percent of NJ residents are overweight or obese. We must realize that these numbers make obesity an epidemic. With the rate of obesity doubling in the last 15 years, we are headed for more chronic lifestyle diseases such as diabetes and hypertension,” says Rebecca Cipriano, MD, Masters in Clinical Nutrition, the founder of A Better You Weight Management Centers in Freehold and Colts Neck, NJ.

Launched in 2008, Dr. Cipriano’s tried-and-tested medically supervised weight loss/weight management program offers 100 percent personalized weight loss solutions based on a patient’s current needs, lifestyle, medical and/or dietary restrictions, and personal goals. No gimmicks, no calorie counting, no prepackaged food—just a custom-designed, medically supervised weight loss program and the one-on-one support the individual needs to lose weight safely and keep it off for life.

Patients work with A Better You’s nutritionists and physicians at a minimum of three-month intervals to learn how to replace old, unhealthy habits with new, healthy ones, assess progress, redirect efforts, if needed, and achieve their personal nutrition and fitness goals.

Dr. Cipriano adds: “ The good news is these problems are reversible. We must see this rise as a wake up call and start the reversing process. Learn to make good food choices, incorporate exercise into your life and, most importantly, get help for you and your family, if you are not able to do these things on your own.”

A Better You has helped hundreds of men and women from from the Garden State lose a combined total of more than 27,000 pounds. Recently, the weight loss and weight management center launched a national online weight loss program via Skype.
