RBS appoints head of Global Network Banking Asia Pacific
Hong Kong, Singapore, Beijing, India, Japan, London - The Royal Bank of Scotland plc (“RBS”) today announces a significant new hire as part of its overall investment programme in Asia Pacific (APAC) and the Global Network Banking business. Manfred Schmoelz will join RBS as Head of Global Network Banking in Asia Pacific after 7 September 2011. Mr. Schmoelz will focus on the growth of the RBS Global Network Banking franchise and how it will continue to go from strength to strength in supporting our multi-national enterprise clients and their regional subsidiaries.
RBS Global Network Banking is responsible for the coverage of subsidiaries of multinational corporates, and a key focus area for growth in RBS. Global Network Banking services over 4,000 subsidiaries of multinational clients in Asia delivering cash (payments & liquidity), trade and supply chain, and merchant acquiring products and services in multiple currencies across multiple time zones.
This is the second key hire for the Global Network Banking APAC business this year, Jonathan Jiang was appointed in April as Global Network Banking Head in China.

Mr. Schmoelz will be based in Singapore and will report into Paul McDonagh, Matthew Kirkby and Alan Goodyear, as Head of Global Transaction Services APAC. Previously Mr. Schmoelz acted as Chief Country Officer for Thailand at Deutsche Bank. He was responsible for all of Deutsche Bank’s local business lines and employees, and its relationship with Thailand’s banking regulators, central bank, and other institutions. Prior to this role, he was Deutsche Bank’s Head of Corporate Banking Coverage, Asia Pacific.
