Diezani Alison-Madueke resumes duty as Minister of Petroleum Resources

ABUJA, Nigeria (eNewsPR- July 5th, 2011) - It was announced on Monday that Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke has officially resumed her duty as Nigeria’s Minister of Petroleum Resources.

She was met with warm embrace by the Permanent Secretary, directors and chief executive officers of Parastatals in the ministry, who pledged their commitment to continue the reform programmes of the Federal Government which she initiated and implemented during her first term as Minister.

The Honourable Minister of Petroleum Resources made clear that the transformation programme in the oil and gas industry would be carried forward with renewed incentives for the benefit of the Nigerian people. Mrs. Alison-Madueke stressed for the continuation of support and teamwork from officials and stakeholders to ensure the realisation of her vision and mission within the industry.

“The goals of transforming the industry will be aggressively pursued in the interest of the country”, she said. Mrs. Alison-Madueke then added, “we are here to do a job for the betterment of every Nigerian”.

The Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Petroleum Resources, Engr. Goni Sheikh expressed during his welcome speech the happiness and joy of all officials within the ministry, parastatals and agencies to see her return as Minister. He noted that she accomplished much during her term, and looked forward to greater achievements in the coming years.

On the same subject, the Group Managing Director of Nigeria National Petroleum Cooperation (NNPC), Engr. Augsutine Oniwon, used the opportunity to reassure the Minister of the commitment and undivided loyalty of the management and staff of NNPC.

Prayers were offered for the successful accomplishment of President Goodluck Jonathan’s transformation programme in the ministry and for peace and progress in Nigeria.
