Diezani Alison-Madueke broadens social efforts with Facebook and Twitter

WEBWIRE

Diezani Alison-Madueke, Nigeria’s first female Minister of Petroleum Resources, recently opened up a Facebook and Twitter account to broaden her social efforts and strengthen communications between her and the public.

With this new addition to the Alison-Madueke camp, it is now possible for the general public and supporters of Alison-Madueke to keep up-to-date with her daily efforts and appearances by following her on both social networking platforms. This new development allows for better communication, therefore strengthening relations between Alison-Madueke and her followers.

Alison-Madueke became the very first female petroleum minister on 6th April 2010 when she was appointed as Minister of Petroleum Resources. Besides this, she was also the only feminine voice amongst the male dominated Organisation of Petroleum-Exporting Countries (OPEC).

Alison-Madueke arrived at the Ministry of Petroleum Resources with experience of serving as Minister of Transportation as well as Minister of Mines and Steel Development. Once appointed, she wasted no time tackling the countless challenges within the sector and soon began to receive commendations from industry stakeholders and groups.

Chief Nduka Eya, Secretary General of Ohanaeze, commented, “I doff my hat to Madueke for the way and manner she has injected life and restored confidence in the petroleum sector.”

Alison-Madueke, despite recent criticism, is promising to continue the reforms which she argues have engendered transparency in the oil and gas sector and denied “rent-seekers” the opportunity to continue “business as usual.”
