Philips Chief Design Officer, Stefano Marzano, to leave the company for retirement
Amsterdam, the Netherlands – Royal Philips Electronics (NYSE: PHG, AEX: PHI) today announced that after twenty years of leading the Design group within Philips, Stefano Marzano, Chief Design Officer, will leave the company for retirement with effect from November 1 of this year. He will be succeeded by Sean Carney, currently Chief Design Officer of Philips Consumer Lifestyle (CL), who will take up this role in addition to his CL role.

Both Stefano Marzano and Philips Design are widely recognized as being at the forefront of the design profession. In 2005, Business Week named him one of the four global ‘Best Leaders for Innovation’, and in 2001 he was awarded the World Technology Award for Design by the World Technology Network. In 1998, Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen (Germany) selected Philips Design as Design Team of the Year.
Stefano Marzano (Italy, 1950) joined Philips in 1973 and held several influential positions within Philips throughout his career. In 1991 he took up his current position leading the global Design competence and Design team at Philips.
