Deutsche Bank takes top position in 2011 Emerging-Markets Research, according to new Institutional Investor survey

WEBWIRE

Deutsche Bank announced today that it has been ranked No 1 on Institutional Investor’s 2011 Emerging-Markets Equity and Fixed-Income Research Team. Deutsche Bank was awarded 20 positions in the survey, including nine in first place and five in second place.

The magazine surveyed more than 500 individuals at more than 340 institutions, globally managing an estimated $395.75 billion in emerging markets equities and $108.75 billion in fixed-income assets.

The Institutional Investor Emerging-Markets Equity & Fixed-Income Research Team replaces the magazine’s former emerging-markets survey. Whilst the new survey covers the same geographic area as the former (Central and Eastern Europe, the Middle East and Africa), the number of industry sectors and macroeconomic disciplines it includes is significantly more expansive.

Institutional Investor said in a press release: “Deutsche Bank debuts in the No 1 spot on the 2011 Emerging-Markets Equity & Fixed-Income Research Team, capturing 20 total positions - nine of which are for teams considered the best in their sectors.”

The No 1-ranked teams were:

Chemicals: Bob Kommers, Aleksandar Stojanovski & team
Construction & Engineering: Julia Gordeyeva, Roy Mutooni & team
Consumer discretionary: Nick Higham, Zein Malas & team
Consumer non-discretionary: Zein Malas, Natalia Smirnova & team
Financials: Daniel Harverd & team
Real Estate: Julia Gordeyeva & team
Telecom: Nicholas Kershaw & team
Transportation: George Buzhenitsa & team
Utilities: Dmitry Bulgakov & team

David Folkerts-Landau, Global Head of Research at Deutsche Bank, said: “This latest No 1 showing for Deutsche Bank is another validation of the growing strength of our Equity Advisory franchise. And, yet again, our commitment to be locally present in as many markets as possible appears to have given us a key competitive edge in the minds of our clients.”

Earlier this year, Deutsche Bank was placed first on Institutional Investor’s 2011 All-Europe Research Team and second on Institutional Investor’s 2011 All-Europe Fixed-Income Research Team.
