Boston, MA – June 14, 2011 -- Parent, McLaughlin & Nangle – http://www.pmn.com -- a top-rated accounting and business advisory firm in New England, kicked off June with a MSCPA Day of Service-sponsored food drive to benefit the Greater Boston Food Bank.

During the 10-day event spearheaded by John Doran, one of the company’s staff accountants, employees of Parent, McLaughlin & Nangle collected more than 150 non-perishable food items for the food bank.

“We’re absolutely grateful to Mr. Doran for organizing the food drive and for working so hard to make it successful, and we’re also grateful to everyone who took the time to contribute to the drive,” said Chuck Lee, a Parent, McLaughlin & Nangle CPA. “Our company has a definite local component and feels strongly that giving back to the community should be a top priority. PMN encourages its employees to make a difference in the lives of others and assists in achieving that goal whenever possible.”

All of the food collected during Parent, McLaughlin & Nangle’s food drive was transported to the Greater Boston Food Bank, where it was checked for compliance with food safety guidelines and then sorted into about 20 food categories. Hunger-relief agencies, such as food pantries and soup kitchens, will be able to order the food by category, allowing the agencies to acquire goods exactly according to their needs.
