NEW YORK - American Express today announced a number of new redemption partners have been added to its industry-leading Membership Rewards® program for 2011 -- giving Cardmembers even more ways to redeem points. For example, new dining partner OpenTable allows Cardmembers to redeem points for reward cards that can be used at OpenTable partner restaurants nationwide. This industry-first partnership with OpenTable gives consumers a new way to enjoy dining out.

Additional partners have been added across several popular categories including:

Dining & Entertainment partners: Ruby Tuesday, Seasons 52, and Universal Studios Theme Parks®
Retail partner: REI (Recreational Equipment, Inc.)
Travel partners: Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts and ski resorts including: Jackson Hole, Killington, Copper Mountain, Mt. Bachelor, Park City Mountain Resort, and Snowbird

“We know that Cardmembers value the program’s redemption options and by adding more partners and innovative ways to redeem points, we’re offering them more choice than ever before,” said Lynne Biggar, executive vice president, Membership Rewards, American Express. “We are committed to growing and launching new innovations within the Membership Rewards program, and continuing to add exciting new partners and valuable redemption offers that fit our customers’ lifestyle.”

In addition to launching new brands into the Membership Rewards program, American Express recently introduced an innovate way for Cardmembers to use their points through a partnership with Zynga, announced in November 2010. Through this partnership, customers can use Membership Rewards points to pay for limited-edition virtual goods, as well as physical and virtual game cards for Zynga’s games. Membership Rewards Points can be used to purchase Zynga game cards for popular titles including CityVille, as well as a variety of virtual goods, such as uniquely designed FarmVille manors and windmills, Café World fountains and stoves, and YoVille roadsters and robots.

There are now millions of redemption options available to Membership Rewards enrollees that span across the program’s nine major categories: Airlines, Car Rentals and Rail, Charities, Dining & Entertainment, Financial Services, Hotels, Merchandise, Retail, and Sports and Adventure.
