TestAmerica’s Cedar Falls Laboratory Receives State of Iowa Workforce Development Training Grant

TestAmerica’s Cedar Falls laboratory, partnering with Hawkeye Community College, has been awarded a workforce development training grant by the Iowa Department of Economic Development (IDED). The grants will enable TestAmerica’s staff to attend specialized training classes at Hawkeye Community College in 2011 and 2012.

Hawkeye Community College provides an educational program that delves into the areas of leadership, communications, conflict management, generational work styles and customer service. These key areas, applicable to all businesses within the state, are designed to enable Iowa businesses to remain competitive in the marketplace.

“We are very appreciative of the Iowa Department of Economic Development for this grant, which allows TestAmerica to provide this wonderful and important training to our staff in Cedar Falls. Ongoing training and staff development are keys to success in our recruitment and retention of our outstanding employees at the Cedar Falls Laboratory,” adds Nancy Ploof, Director of Human Resources.

Every year, the IDED provides funds, which can be awarded as grants for workforce development training. Iowa’s workforce training programs have evolved from a business expansion incentive tool into a comprehensive, targeted human resource tool, ensuring all Iowa businesses remain competitive in their respective industries.
