KTVU/KCIU Announces Air Dates for Documentary on Remember Them

Show investigates making of Oakland monument to 25 humanitarians who changed the world

Oakland, Calif. — KTVU/KICU will air a 30-minute documentary featuring of the Remember Them: Champions for Humanity monument.

The show, hosted by KTVU’s Mike Mibach and Claudine Wong, will air five times from April 30 to May 29.

Announced remaining air dates and channels are:

• Sunday, May 15 at 9:00 AM on KTVU
• Saturday, May 21 at 6:30 PM on KICU
• Sunday, May 29 at 8:00 PM on KTVU

Remember Them, an inspirational and educational world-class monument honoring 25 humanitarians, will be built in August of 2011 in the new Henry J. Kaiser Memorial Park in Fox Square in the newly renovated Uptown neighborhood in downtown Oakland. Public unveiling and dedication events for the monument will take place between Sept. 6 and Sept. 11, 2011.

The monument includes sculptures of the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr., Mother Teresa, Chief Joseph, Susan B. Anthony, Oskar Schindler, Thich Nhat Hanh, Elie Wiesel, Helen Keller, Shirin Ebadi, and Nelson Mandela—among others. The four-piece sculpture will stand 52 feet wide by 25 feet tall, cover 1,000 square feet and use more than 40,000 lbs. of bronze. Remember Them will be the largest bronze sculpture in the West, the first grouping of international humanitarians in the United States, and the first monument in the U.S. to honor diversity.

Remember Them is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit project of the Oakland Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce Foundation. Remember Them’s major sponsor is Kaiser Permanente, and other lead corporate supporters include AT&T, Bank of America, The Clorox Company, Horizon Beverage, Rotary International #3 (Oakland), Ramsell Holding Corp., Securitas, Wells Fargo and The Whalen Family Foundation. Remember Them is also supported by gifts from individual donors.
