The 35th Annual Union Street (Eco-Urban) Festival Will Focus on Health and Green Education, Green Living and Sustainability

WEBWIRE

(San Francisco, CA ) This year, the 35th annual Union Street (Eco-Urban) Festival will be more focused on health, green education, and sustainable living. The event, free to the public, will be presenting Green demonstrations and providing information about healthy choice living and food options. Because of the healthier emphasis and focus on Green Living and Sustainability the fair will be alcohol free for the first time in 35 years.

Festival presenters expect these changes to be positive for the Cow Hollow neighborhood that surrounds the area, the City, as well as for the Union Street Association the sponsor of the event. “Since its inception the Union Street Festival has broken new ground and we feel that it’s time to take the festival into the 21st Century with more emphasis on health, education and sustainability. We have lined up many new vendors in these areas as well as our old favorites such as the world famous Waiters Race to make our fair the best one in the City,” said Union Street Association president Eleanor Carpenter.

The new direction for the festival is to emphasize positive education and fun in a beautiful setting amidst the historic Victorian houses that line Union Street. San Francisco is a forward thinking city and the Union Street (Eco-Urban) Festival helps promote the values of Green thinking in all aspects of day-to-day living. Kick off the summer and spend the weekend on Union Street at one of San Francisco’s most popular and FUN events and go Green at the same time. Now in its 35th year, the Union Street (Eco-Urban Festival) continues to showcase 150 talented artists and craftspeople including potters, jewelers and photographers from around the Bay Area. Green values, Green education and Green advocacy will be promoted throughout the entire festival. The event is Saturday June 4th and Sunday June 5th from 10 am to 6 pm.

Dine on sumptuous gourmet goodies from as many as 25 food booths. Cafes and bistros including Perry’s, Betelnut and Rose’s Cafe as well as many of Union Street’s favorites will open their doors to festival goers who can stop in for a cappuccino or house-made pastries and pizza and more. Adding to the celebration will be a Waiters Race and two stages of live entertainment that will feature a variety of live music, including Jazz, Classical and Swing Music.

Music, fun, food and Green education and advocacy will be in full supply throughout six entire blocks from Gough to Steiner along Union Street. And one thing is certain—this event is Always a Celebration! The Union Street (Eco-Urban) Festival typically attracts more than 100,000 visitors each year from all over the United States making it the largest and most well renowned street fairs in San Francisco.

The Festival is held on San Francisco’s fashionable Union Street where historic Victorians have been transformed into popular boutiques, art galleries and restaurants. The Union Street Festival is proudly presented by the Union Street Association, a non-profit organization, formed by local businesses and merchants in an effort to improve the economic environment on Union Street and surrounding Cow Hollow. The Union Street (Eco-Urban) Festival is produced by Steven Restivo Event Services, LLC. Over 100 staff members will be on-site to assist exhibitors and the public.
