Lectrus Announces New Freight In-Transit Tracking Service

Lectrus announced that it now provides customers with detailed shipping reports and real-time global tracking of products from its manufacturing plants to the jobsite. The new freight in-transit tracking service complements the company’s 40-year history of engineering, constructing and installing fully integrated robust metal enclosures for the protection of electrical distribution and power generation equipment typically free-issued to Lectrus by its customers. These products, called electrical equipment centers, are built off-site and transported in fully integrated sections to industrial construction sites around the globe.

“Not only do project managers provide regular updates throughout the build and electrification process but Lectrus now keeps its customers updated on the exact location of the product en route to the destination,” stated President & CEO Jerry Driscoll. “We want to provide our customers and their contacts with reliable shipment information which is very helpful in planning site activities. According to the company’s website, Lectrus offers two levels of freight in-transit service: (1) frequent status reports sent via e-mail to its customers; and (2) real-time tracking via global positioning units installed on the roof of the metal enclosure. With the GPS units, Lectrus issues its customer a user name and password which allows 24/7 access of a secure, third-party website that provides visibility of the product in-transit. Both services are provided at no charge to the customer, unless the product purchased is less than 600 square feet in size.

This new service provides Lectrus customers with several benefits, including: security of shipment and peace of mind; accurate scheduling of offloading, commissioning and other site activities; reduced theft recovery and insurance costs; documentation of in-transit and delivery times; and up-to-date product location information.
