Delivers new in-memory appliance that integrates optimized Fujitsu infrastructure and SAP® software

Munich, Fujitsu today announces that its servers, storage and network solutions have now been validated by SAP AG for the use with the SAP ® In-Memory Appliance software (SAP HANA™), a flexible, multipurpose, data source agnostic in-memory appliance. By combining certified, optimized Fujitsu PRIMERGY servers, ETERNUS storage and Fujitsu network infrastructure with SAP ® software components, customers can use a top-notch appliance that draws on in-memory technology to quickly analyze massive amounts of transactional business data in real time.

SAP itself uses among others a Fujitsu infrastructure to run SAP HANA in its own datacenters. SAP HANA provides enterprises with instant insight into their business operations, delivering improved system performance and lowering operational risks. The software also dramatically improves speed by analyzing data within server memory, rather than offloading it to disk-based systems. Fujitsu is among the first vendors able to provide a validated platform configuration to run SAP HANA and thus providing customers with a reliable, optimized and scalable infrastructure built on its high performance PRIMERGY RX600 and RX900 rack servers, ETERNUS storage and network solutions.

As an SAP global partner, Fujitsu will provide a complete hardware solution for SAP HANA, helping customers get maximum benefit as quickly as possible and ensuring that the technology is straightforward to use and easy to administer. Comprehensive services, built on best practice, will enhance the power of SAP HANA, including preinstalled infrastructure, integration and jump start delivery model. Fujitsu will also provide customers with both proactive and reactive 24x7 support, defined Service Level Agreements (SLAs), a dedicated technical account manager and regular system health checks through Fujitsu Solution Contract for SAP HANA infrastructure.

Says Jens-Peter Seick, Senior Vice Pr esident Datacenter Systems at Fujitsu Technology Solutions: “Businesses today need to be agile, with the ability to make vital choices at the speed of thought – because windows of opportunity do not stay open for long. Previous tools could not process data sufficiently quickly to support real time decision making – but the game has changed with SAP HANA running on and supported by Fujitsu, enabling unparalleled insight into data, whatever the size of organization. ”

Fujitsu and SAP have a long-standing partnership, covering technology, hosting and services and as such have already worked closely together on key projects such as business warehouse accelerator. Fujitsu is a founding member of the Future SOC Lab, a research lab on on-demand systems that the Hasso Plattner Institute (HPI) has established. Several industry partners, among them Fujitsu and SAP, are cooperating to support research in how hardware and software can benefit from the exponential increases in main memory and massive parallel computing power.

SAP HANA is built on high-performance, industry-standard technology and is available in a range of models tailored to individual business needs. Fujitsu’s infrastructure for SAP HANA is highly scalable, consisting of eight processors support between 128GB and 1TB of main memory, running on Novell SLES, combined with Fujitsu ETERNUS storage and additional server-attached, storage memory technologies from Fusion-io. Preinstalled SAP software includes a real-time replication service for SAP ERP and an optimized, in-memory version of the SAP ® BusinessObjects Strategic Workforce Planning solution. Highly tuned integration with other business intelligence solutions from SAP ® BusinessObjects provides further insight and analytics through existing interfaces.
