Qualcomm Hours of Service Adoption More Than Doubles in Last 12 Months

Cargo Transporters Decreases Non-Compliance Citations by More Than 45 percent; Saves $100K

Cincinnati, Ohio – – Qualcomm Incorporated (NASDAQ: QCOM), a leading provider of integrated wireless systems, applications and services to transportation and logistics companies, today announced that adoption of its Hours of Service (QHOS) application has more than doubled in the last 12 months. This significant increase in adoption points to fleets’ increased focus on safety, and the role that Electronic On-board Recorders (EOBRs) play in increasing compliance and reducing fatigued driving, ultimately leading to improved CSA scores and increased safety. QHOS is an EOBR solution that is compliant with the latest Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration’s (FMCSA) regulation on driving hours.

Qualcomm Hours of Service allows trucking companies to automate their driver logs, which can help improve fleet safety, compliance and driver productivity. QHOS provides near real-time monitoring of drivers’ hours, improves reporting accuracy and allows drivers to focus on driving safely and efficiently. Fleet managers and dispatchers can access driver availability information and reports, including duty status, driving time and remaining hours of service, all through a Web browser. Additionally, the application simplifies roadside inspections by enabling inspectors to verify the driver’s identity and retrieve record-of-duty status without reviewing cumbersome paperwork.

Since adopting the application throughout its fleet on Qualcomm’s Mobile Computing Platform 100 (MCP100), the company has seen a tremendous improvement in regulatory compliance and a significant reduction in non-compliance citations. In the first year of using QHOS, Cargo reduced its internal log-related violations by more than 40 percent – from 344 to just 194 – and reduced out of service violations by 75 percent.
